Gandhi Peace Team
The Gandhi Team has provided safety, peacekeeping, and crowd control for various groups and organizations at marches, rallies, and protests in the greater San Jose area since 2017. This included big events for Women's March, March for Our Lives, Indivisible, MayDay, Tesla Takedown, No Kings, and many more, ranging from 10 to 35,000 participants. We invite individuals to serve on our San Jose-based peace team as a Peace Ambassador. They must be trained in all three levels of de-escalation and demonstrate the disposition and skills required to serve effectively in the role.
When they serve with the Gandhi Team, Peace Ambassadors are expected to abide by our code of conduct and safety protocols. Individuals who violate them may be asked to step down as a Peace Ambassador, either temporarily or permanently, and to return their Gandhi Team-branded vest.
Outside the Gandhi Team, anyone trained in de-escalation or bystander intervention may choose to serve as a safety person.
